It’s a lot to lay on the road and certainly not my style to eat chalk like this but in a small comp type play I will back the Braves after that embarrassment on Monday night.
San Diego won 17-2 the other day bashing around Jair Jurrjens in that 10 run fourth inning. Let’s be honest here though the Padres are still a very weak hitting club that just happened to have everything work perfectly in the first game of this series. In other words that was an aberration, plain and simple. Adrian Gonzalez can hit a ball out of any ballpark but most of the other guys in this spacious vast ballpark are punch and Judy guys that are overall not very good.
The Friars are in trouble today against one of the best young studs on the planet. Tommy Hanson should have at least one Cy Young in his future as this kid is just flat out nasty and hands down the ace of the Braves. This kid has all of the makings of being a great one and even though I like former White Sock Clayton Richard it’s not a comparison on the hill in this game.
You know that Bobby Cox’ squad is itching to get back on the field after that debacle on Monday and with Chipper Jones back to help out McLouth, Heyward, McCann and a few others I can’t help but believe that the Bravos get some revenge today after the 15 run loss.
San Diego should have saved some of their runs for tonight because I’m not so sure they are going to be able to do all that much against Hanson.
